Site Update : New User Activation
Posted by Jeanene on 2007/6/12 12:10:01 (555 reads)

Due to a continuing problem with spammers joining the community to circumvent the approval process for comment spam, I've had to revert to requiring new users to activate their accounts via an email system.

This won't affect current members, but in the past there were problems with the activation mail not getting through for a few people that were attempting to sign up.

If you are a new user registering for the first time be sure that your spam filters are set to allow mail from hobgoblin.net. If you still don't receive the activation letter, use the Contact Us form to inquire about manual activation.

Thanks!

Site Announcements : Name Generator Bug Fix
Posted by Jeanene on 2007/5/20 12:07:08 (956 reads)

One of the bugs caused by the move to the new server has been squashed and the name generator should be working again. Let me know if anyone has further problems with it, and what you were doing when it happened.

I'm currently trying to track down the date bug in the forums (when it should say "today" or "yesterday" we get something else.)

Next on the bug list is the post count error.

Thanks for your patience!

Hobgoblin.net is getting too big for its britches...

Our disk space is nearing maximum capacity and I need to expand it. However, the costs of keeping hobgoblin.net combined with other web projects of mine are getting a little steep, to help ease the cost of that, I need to move hobgoblin to a new server where there's more space for it to grow, at no additional costs for me.

If you want to continue writing but don't know what to do next, check out www.nanopubye.org. Someone at the website set up a yearlong plan to get your novel published. I've never tried following the plan - this is my first year doing NaNoWriMo - so I don't know if it really works. But I do know that it sounds reasonable, so I'm going to try it this year.
